Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. 2012

€63.00

One of our best vintages, which gave opulent wines with plenty of alcohol and great aging potential. This lingering, finely-balanced 2012 Brunello shows excellent structure and a finely rugged, almost “masculine” finish.

Its vibrant ruby red hues veer to garnet. On the nose, spice prevails over the balsamic hints, flanked by cherry notes in perfect harmony with some black berry fruit. The mouth has slightly dry tannins and follows through with thyme and tobacco.

Aged in French oak tonneaux (50% in new wood; 50% in second-fill) for two years, then in the bottle for a further two years.
100% Sangiovese Grosso.

Ageing process: in French oak barrels (50% the first process and 50% the second process) for two years; then in the bottle for an additional two years

Sensory analysis: The wine is a deep ruby red color with garnet hues. The spicy olfactory notes prevail over the balsamic sensations, and there are hints of cherry, in perfect harmony with dark fruits such as prunes and black berries. It has a good structure, slightly dry tannins and in the post nasal passage there’s an expression of thyme and tobacco. Persistence is average and the closure is finely textured.

Total Alcoholic strength by volume: 14%
